Course Overview

This course offers an overview of the field of equine assisted therapy (EAT) and includes exploration of different models currently incorporated under the larger umbrella of Equine Therapies.

We will study the horse/human connection, and the non-verbal language between horse, therapist and clients.

We will look at how to transfer room-based working skills into the outdoors, inviting our horse partner to co-partner with us. We will learn how to operate within a new dynamic; incorporating the sensory relationship of the horses into the mix as one of the many tools used in the practise of EAT.

With the help of our herd, we will look at the role of the horse in the therapeutic dynamic and understand how horses offer themselves in relationship to enable clients to see and understand their unconscious processes, and habitual negative patterns. We will learn how the horses assist us to help clients to change and make more meaningful, healthy, conscious and respectful choices in their lives.

This course will also offer participants a personal journey of discovery, as they practise alongside our four-legged companions in the Red Horse herd. No riding required. Some experience or connection to horses preferred.
